“Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid nor dismayed…” 2 Chronicles 32:7

In 2 Chronicles 32 Sennacherib king of Assyria entered Judah to wage war against Jerusalem. King Hezekiah consulted with his leaders and commanders, and they did all that they could to prepare for this enemy coming against them. He set military captains over the people and gathered them together to encourage them saying, “Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid nor dismayed before the king of Assyria, nor before all the multitude that is with him; for there are more with us than with him. With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the Lord our God, to help us and to fight our battles.” Today we face an enemy in Covid-19, a virus that is causing much fear, even in the church. But the words of King Hezekiah is as true now as it was back then: “Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid nor dismayed... with us is the Lord our God to help us!” Remember that the Lord says, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5
