A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.  (Proverbs 17:17)

Growing up I can remember having many best friends, each one of them unique in his own way.  We had a relationship like brothers; we got in and out of trouble together, comforted each other and I think we would have given our lives for each other.  In the Old Testament, Job and Daniel had friends.  While Job struggled with loss and grief, his friends Eliphaz, Bildad and Zophar only offered him condemnation instead of compassion and companionship.  Daniel’s friends, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, supported and strengthened him and each other in difficult times, through prayer, honoring God, and  refusing to bow down before the king’s image (Daniel 2:17–18, 3:16–18).  So what kind of friend are you?  Who needs you to be a friend today?  My very best friend is still with me.  He said to me, “I will always love you, will never forsake you, and I will give my life for you”– His name is Jesus.  Do you know my Friend?
