Christ has gone ahead to prepare a “mansion” for us (John 14:2), its “size” determined by the degree to which we accomplish God’s business. As believers, we are going to heaven, which contains a city that is a solid cube – 1500 miles by 1500 miles by 1500 miles (Revelation 21:10–27). This could mean 2.25 million square miles on each tier of the cube extending 1500 miles upward – like a huge skyscraper. If each tier was one mile apart, the surface area of the city would be 17 times larger than the surface of the earth. It is a city made of gold and every precious stone – jasper, sapphire, emerald, chalcedony, sardonyx, sardius, chrysolite, beryl, topaz, chrysoprase, jacinth, and amethyst, not to mention the gates of pearls and streets of transparent gold. As we think about heaven, our pursuit of earthly possessions should pale in comparison; our desire should be for our families to be there. With this in mind, we should teach our children what lies ahead and what is really important.
